(KEARNEY, Neb.) – The Nebraska Soybean Board, in partnership with the Kearney Fire Department, will host a live demonstration of SoyFoam™ TF 1122, a groundbreaking PFAS-free firefighting foam developed with U.S. soybeans.
The event will provide firefighters, community leaders, agricultural stakeholders, and media representatives with an opportunity to see SoyFoam™ TF 1122 in action through a series of controlled fire demonstrations. Attendees will learn how soy-based innovation is helping provide safer firefighting solutions while creating new demand for soybean farmers.
Firefighters with the Kearney Fire Department will participate in hands-on demonstrations showcasing the foam's suppression capabilities, application performance, and environmental benefits.
SoyFoam™ TF 1122 was developed by Cross Plains Solutions and is made using soy derived from U.S. soybean farmers. The foam is 100% free of intentionally added PFAS and contains no fluorinated compounds. PFAS, commonly referred to as "forever chemicals," have been linked to environmental contamination and potential health concerns.
The demonstration reflects growing interest among fire departments and communities in safer firefighting technologies that help reduce environmental risk while maintaining effective fire suppression capabilities.
"The Nebraska Soybean Board is proud to support innovations that create new opportunities for soybean farmers while helping address real-world challenges," said Wesley Wach, Demand & Utilization Coordinator, Nebraska Soybean Board. "SoyFoam™ demonstrates how soy-based products can deliver performance, sustainability, and value for communities across Nebraska and beyond."
SoyFoam™ TF 1122 is the first and only firefighting foam to earn GreenScreen® Certified Gold status, an independent certification recognizing safer chemical formulations. The product is also certified readily biodegradable by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and is certified 84% biobased through the USDA BioPreferred® Program.
Manufactured by Cross Plains Solutions in Georgia, SoyFoam™ was developed with support from soybean checkoff investments, including support from state soybean boards and the United Soybean Board.
"We appreciate the Nebraska Soybean Board and the Kearney Fire Department for hosting this demonstration and helping introduce SoyFoam™ to firefighters and community leaders in Nebraska," said Dave Garlie, President of Cross Plains Solutions. "Support from soybean farmers and the soy checkoff continues to drive innovation and expand opportunities for soy-based technologies."
